Adams Design Construction - Apps for RemodelingIt’s remodeling time! But before you get to work, we need to make sure we have the right tools for the job. Time to bust out the toolbox and take inventory. Hammer? Check! Screwdriver? Check! Smartphone? Believe it or not, your smartphone or tablet can be one of the most useful tools in your arsenal throughout the remodeling process – from inspiration and planning to construction. And whether you decide to tackle the project all by yourself or enlist the help of a professional remodeling company, there are plenty great apps to help you get the job done!

If you need a little bit of inspiration before you get the ball rolling, try out apps like Pinterest, Houzz, or Dream Home. You could spend days digging through the endless home décor and remodeling eye candy, and you’re sure to find plenty of great ideas for your own project. As your search through these apps, or even through remodeling galleries, save what you like in a Pinterest board or Houzz ideabook and you’ll have a place to collect all your inspiration, and even be able to share your ideas with your remodeler.

Once you’ve started getting into more concrete planning for your project, staying organized is half the battle. You’ll have to-do-lists, quotes from contractors, notes, website links, and dozens of other files all floating around, just waiting to be misplaced. While they’re not solely for remodeling, apps like Evernote and Google Keep can work wonders for keeping you organized during a remodel. You can easily keep files in color-coded folders files, record notes and voice memos, set reminders, and have everything accessible with the press of a button!

Even when you’re in the thick of construction, a smartphone can still be your best friend. Apps like Home Improvement Calcs can measure, convert units, and make calculations for pretty much any home improvement project you can think of, saving you the trouble of trying to do the math on the fly. Need a quick refresher on applying drywall? Watch one of the hundreds of home improvement video tutorials on Construction Instruction, and you’re good to go. Just make sure you invest in a heavy duty case and keep it safe from swinging hammers!
